Description: Annuity Company Accountant
Location: Bristol
Salary: £47,000 circa
This is your opportunity to undertake a Senior role in the Accounting function within the Life Accounting & Controls team in a Leading Insurance company Based in Bristol. The key purpose of this role is to ensure that a new business entity is provided with accurate and timely financial reports to support reporting to the Group.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a robust framework of internal controls in compliance with SOx and Operational Risk requirements
Putting in place additional controls and reconciliations as required
Manage the monthly and quarterly accounting under UKGAAP and IFRS
Provide financial analysis and explanatory commentary of the actual result against prior year, plans and forecasts
Analyse and monitor specifically the impacts on profit of mortality risk, asset & liability matching and the impact from the longevity hedge arrangement
Liaise with Group Tax for preparation of the taxation charges for actual results under UKGAAP and IFRS
Manage the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements
Provide a focal point for audit liaison
Manage and maintain my clients Annuity Company's compliance with a number of internal and external reinsurance arrangements
Monitor the company's solvency
Skills:
Good understanding of multi GAAP accounting for Life Office businesses
Understanding of Life insurance marketplace
Awareness of current issues in the financial services environment
Working understanding of UK GAAP & IFRS for Life insurance business
Understanding of accounting for derivatives
Understanding of reinsurance arrangements
ACA/ACCA Qualified Accountant with PQE

Description: Audit Partner
Salary: £100,000 to £200,000

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a leading firm of Accountants and assist with their success and growth
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that the assignment is undertaken in accordance with the pre-assignment instructions, and to carry out the more rigorous aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm's procedures.
Ensure audit quality at all times
Assist with internal and external quality assurance, ensuring any actions are completed in line with the firms and professional standards
Communicate any problems in complying with these instructions, or any contentious issues identified, to the assignment manager immediately, identifying and commenting upon the possible solutions
Act as day-to-day point of contact for the client, and to practice the principles of excellent client service at all times
Maintain an awareness of the firm's specialist services and publications, ensure added value to clients
Provide adequate briefing, supervision and "on the job" training for trainee staff
Review work completed by trainee staff for adequacy and completeness, and to undertake job appraisal interviews
Assist in student recruitment, training and marketing activities as required
Summarise time spent on regular basis, and to perform the firm's review and completion procedures before passing the files for manager review
Skills:
Business development skills and experience would be beneficial
Accountancy Practice experience is beneficial
ACA or ACCA qualified with a preferred first time pass
Proven experience in client handling.
Proven audit experience in producing high quality audits
Audit experience from a practice background would be distinct advantage
Audit experience of Owner Managed Business clients would be advantageous
