Commercial Schemes Underwriter
Location: Gloucester
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000

In line with our clients growth plans within the Commercial Insurance Market we are now recruiting for a Commercial Underwriter. You will be required to develop profitable commercial business through technical assessment of individual risk and schemes involving the negotiation and processing of suitable terms for new business, change in risk, claims and renewals.

Responsibilities:

Underwrite new and existing business in accordance with personal underwriting authority
Complete quote, policy, referral and survey report work
Consider and act on the underwriting implications of claims to minimise the potential for repetition of loss
Accurately respond to queries raised on policies and products by brokers, surveyors and claims departments
Respond effectively to queries raised by the accounts department and credit controllers
Participate in regular meetings to provide personal feedback on results to maximise underwriting delivery, scheme development and team effectiveness
Handle technical referrals from less experienced colleagues in order that business can be dealt with effectively within correct authority levels and in doing so coaching colleagues to broaden their understanding and ability.

Skills:

Skilful communicator, negotiator and relationship builder
Numerical proficiency sufficient to deal with underwriting, scheme analysis and reporting data
Underwriting experience in property, pecuniary and liability classes of insurance equally, and for all relevant classes across a variety of products and trades
The ability to assess technical risk and make decisions within their authority
2 A Levels or Equivalent

Commercial Underwriter
Location: Harrogate
Salary: £24,000 - £28,000

Inline with the continual growth our client has experienced over the past 12 months they are now seeking a Commercial Underwriter to deal with their growing client base. You will be involved with New Business, Renewals and Mid-Term Adjustments enquires from clients.

Responsibilities:

Provide new business quotations on request
Assessment of the risk and negotiation of terms
Take instructions in respect of alterations to current policies
Assess renewals to ensure their continued acceptability
Provide risk advice/risk management/risk prevention information
Establish and develop business relationships including attending meetings and conducting presentations as required
Participate in regular team meetings, providing feedback on results, successes and problems to maximise team performance and management awareness of market conditions and member development

Skills:

The FSA rules in regard to retail and commercial business
Understanding of both Personal and Commercial insurances
Underwriting and rating factors, and how these are applied in relation to all major classes of commercial insurance
Good use of Microsoft Word, Excel and other MS applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good problem solving and analytical skills
Working towards CII Qualifications would be beneficial

Commercial Underwriter
Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 + Benefits

A Commercial Underwriter is required to join a highly successful organisation. Due to a continued expansion our Client has an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Underwriter dealing with new and existing business enhancing the sales centre.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for dealing with new business quotations in respect of all Commercial insurance products i.e. Liability, GIT and CAR
You will liaise and deal with enquiries from passed to you from the sales team where the clients needs falls outside of the insurer schemes
Where required handle additional negotiations to secure the business and meet the clients needs
You will have involvement in negotiating new business and or renewal terms, conditions and premiums
You will be reviewing frequency and nature of claims submitted and discussing points of referral with insurers
You will have a key involvement in product development

This will involve working within a team to achieve the balance of account growth by meeting new business, renewal and account quality objectives.

Responsibilities:

To assist in the profitability of the Company’s commercial presence through a process of developing new sources of business, extending trading relationships, developing new products and underwriting selectively. As an underwriter you must operate at the sharp end of a continuous atmosphere of competition to deliver Company objectives. This requires you to handle the technical assessment and underwriting of risk and the techniques of successful negotiation and relationship building.

Assess renewals to ensure their continued acceptability
Underwrite and process mid term adjustments

Must have good organisation, motivation and training skills
