    Responsibilities:

    Skills:


    Previous experience in handling Clinical Negligence or Complex Personal Injury Claims
    An LLB at 2:1 or a non-law degree at the same level with at least a commendation at PGDL

    Responsibilities

    Maintain an interest in public law
    Working own files under supervision, also working on files with senior members of the team
    Taking formal instructions from new clients
    Managing own caseload from first instruction through Pre-Action Protocol and all relevant steps in the litigation until settlement or disposal
    Dealing with funding issues, including Public Funding Applications, monitoring of fees, liaising with before-the-event insurers and entering into CFAs with clients and Counsel
    Instructing medical experts and Counsel
    Assisting more senior fee-earners with complex, high value claims
    Preparation for Inquests, including instructing experts and Counsel and attending Inquests where relevant
    Taking initial telephone and website enquiries
    Contacting clients and taking initial information
    Liaising with senior fee-earners and undertaking initial investigations from new enquiries
    Assisting senior solicitors on catastrophic injury cases and/or multi-client cases
    Business development including updating website information, case reports and articles
    Opportunity to develop a niche area of expertise should they wish to do so


    Skills

    Experience of working in clinical negligence and public law practice
    A strong academic background
    Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to be an effective communicator at all levels
    Experience of dealing with clinical negligence litigation
    Excellent organisational and time management skills
    Flexibility in approach to work and ability to multi-task and work under pressure
    Personal injury experience is preferable
    Ability to manage a varied case load
    Good working knowledge of medico-legal issues
    Enthusiasm for this area of law

    Responsibilities


    To achieve efficiency, profitability and high technical standards in the business unit through optimum use of human and physical resources
    To monitor business performance against budget and implement corrective action where necessary to ensure performance remains on target
    To develop and implement own local sales and marketing strategies
    Develop and instigate other corporate or local initiatives and processes as required to develop the business
