We are recruiting for a Legal 500 practice for their Employment Pensions & Benefits Team who are seeking an Employment Solicitor of approximately 3-5 years PQE to join the Cardiff team to assist on fee earning work.

You will be providing Clients with high quality legal advice and services, including representation at the Employment Tribunals (all over England and Wales)

Responsibilities:

To provide clients with high quality legal advice and services, including representation at Employment Tribunals (England and Wales) i.e. advocacy at preliminary hearings, pre hearing reviews and full trials
Advises, guides and assists clients in all aspects of Employment Law, including re-organisations/redundancy, TUPE, maternity, race/sex/disability discrimination, unfair/wrongful dismissal, breach of contract etc
Directly supervises less experienced solicitors and other legal staff, ensuring that their work is appropriate and their development needs are addressed

Skills and Experience

At least 2 years post-qualification experience would be beneficial

The Employment team advises public and private sector employers on human resource issues from daily personnel matters, including disciplinary and grievance issues, to strategic management issues such as redundancy programmes, industrial action, and wrongful dismissal claims.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for a caseload of non contentious work along with some contentious issues, dealing with complex and challenging issues for a variety of large well known private sector clients.
You will be handling issues relating to corporate transactions, including advising on policies, contracts of employment, employee liabilities, TUPE (outsourcing and in sourcing) and due diligence.
It is important to develop working relationships with contacts in HR and legal departments as well as board directors within client organisations.
This role will also involve conducting training and briefing sessions for clients relating to impact of new legislation and other employment law issues.
You will need to take responsibility for the informal supervision and coaching of less experienced members of the team when required.

Skills:

Ideally you will have a good academic record, together with typically 5+ years post qualification experience within employment law would be beneficial
Experience will be gained within a strong commercial practice and encompass good exposure to a wide range of non-contentious issues
